EGR Valve Problem. Typical symptoms of EGR valve failure are loss of power and exhaust fumes. EGR valve failure may be due to mechanical wear or deposition of large amounts of soot on the valve. With the 1.9 TDI engine, there are several versions of the EGR valve. Before deciding to replace the EGR valve, make sure the cause is not a defect Feb 28, 2010. Location. Lafayette, LA. I have the kermaTDI OMI intake kit, which still appears as an improvement over the stock PD150 intake just at a glance, but who knows for sure without a flow bench. I will be e-mailing you about the costs and pictures of a PD150 EGR cooler.
Mar 6, 2011. #8. Great Job, I just cleaned out my EGR and intake at 186K miles and I can say that it did not look that bad. It was a messy job! Maybe I should clean out my old turbo as well but I do wonder how much buildup there is as there was marginal buildup in the EGR and intake manifold (daily italian tune-ups).

EGR Vacuum Control Solenoid - Repair or Replace A failed EGR vacuum control solenoid will often have no noticeable symptoms beyond a check engine light, but it does cause your Volkswagen to operate inefficiently and produce higher emissions. A-Premium EGR Valve for VW Golf MK5 1K1 Caddy III 2.0 SDI 2004-2010 038131501BC (Fits: VW Golf) £48.99. Click & Collect. Free postage.I played around with the car this evening and unplugged the electrical connection to the EGR valve. I noticed right away a change in exhaust sound and a distinctive hiss, a lot like a vacuum leak. I took it out for a drive with the EGR unplugged and the turbo seemed to spool up faster but surged a bit. I reconnected it and cleared 2 DTCs out.The crux of it is this: Approx. 100rpm loss of lag. Improved throttle response. Better economy. Less smoke. Downside is, loss of anti-stall valve which will allow the engine to shudder on shutdown, and can take longer to warm up on a cold day. IMHO and many others, the benefits outweigh the downsides. .

Possible injector problem? – 09-09-2012, 03:50 PM. Its unlikely that 3 months on the wrong oil will have done any harm but you should change it. These pd engines must have the correct oil or the cams will be damaged and they connect to the injectors. Long term use of the wrong oil will lead to a big repair bill on a pd engine. Hi Guys, I've got a MK5 1.9tdi Golf but recently the heating has not been working correctly, I find when I turn the engine on from a cold start it works fine normally for a little while before the problem begins. It seems as though after a while the power of the air output drops alot and even on 'setting 4' theres a hardly any air coming through. The new compressors have a control valve operated by the ECU. It removes the pressure from the system if more power is required from the engine. These valves are notorious for sticking open and then your compressor cannot build-up pressure to make the AC work. The simple way is to replace the valve. Price range from $25 to $80 for the valve. Qtd21l.
