Anyway an interesting thread Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 2004 1.6 Zetec Spark Plug blown out of engine over on the Honest John website were the core plug / washer jet argument is discussed in full. Plus there are plenty more threads on the web pointing to the washer jets being the accepted culprit in the vast majority of cases. £170 for changing a fuel filter!!! Its true the focus 1.6 TDCi filters are expensive but a reasonable independent garage should do this for £50 incl parts, often not charging for the diagnostics. I had this problem last summer with engine light and limp mode, so first tried the fuel filter (£50) then the glow plugs (£95) which fixed it.

We had a local Ford dealer carry out a diagnostic as we had previously been stranded and had to be recovered by the AA.
Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec petrol - Air temperature sensor - inglaurentius : Hello, I have a similar issue on my Ford Focus Diesel mk2 2007 -- fan blower not working in any of the 4 speeds and dashboard displying "---degC" with the frost red star indication.
So I suspect that is a red herring, maybe a side effect of the diagnostic process. You need to be able to read the error code (DTCs) as soon as the problem happens. Some codes go away very quickly, while others last a long time. Forscan is ideal, as it reads almost all known Ford codes.
My Focus has developed an issue of stalling when the car is idle, either at a complete stop or when in slow moving traffic. It drives perfectly when on open roads and ideals at 6-800 when static, then it splutters and stalls. The issue seems worse when air con is switched on. A mechanic couldn’t find an issue and an air con expert cleared the

The Ford Focus has been a top seller in Ireland for more than twenty years now and with good reason. It is well-built, good value and excellent to drive. There are more of them on the road in Ireland today than almost every other vehicle. By far the most popular Focus is the Mark II. Most of those have petrol aspirated engines (35,656 petrol vs

Fill the tank & system with clean water (no need for antifreeze while troubleshooting), run the engine and see if you can spot a leak, especially follow those 2 small diameter hoses back to the engine. The 1.0 petrol engine had a recall because one of those hoses split at a junction. Top 10 problems. Ford wanted more people to buy Fusions with the 1.6 EcoBoost, so the marketing team decided to claim that the timing belt in these engines can survive more than 10 years or 150,000 miles. We can tell you that no timing belt will safely survive that long. It will most likely brake even sooner than 120,000 miles. 1CDcq.
